Program 04

Saturday Enrichment Program

Saturdays on campus: direct and cross examination, opening and closing, motions and objections, practiced in the courtrooms rather than described in a book.

Skills, in the room where they are used

The Saturday Enrichment Program is where the advocacy training happens as training rather than as theory. Students practice direct and cross examination, argue motions, make and meet objections, and run mock trials in the courtrooms on campus.

It is included in tuition. It is not an extracurricular you sign up for separately and it is not reserved for the third year.

The weekly Barrister

Every Saturday CDTA hosts a Barrister luncheon. Students, practicing attorneys and judicial officers eat together and talk about what they are actually working on.

For a student, that is the local legal community becoming a set of people you know rather than a directory. Riverside County is where most CDTA graduates practice, and the room you are eating lunch in is the room you will be appearing in front of.

Student support

CDTA students and alumni form a close network and share study strategies, examination tactics and advice about balancing school with work and home life.

The school states it plainly: students have found that together they can accomplish what might be impossible alone. Law school is partly an exercise in attrition, and CDTA commits to keeping students in it.
