Distance Learning Option
Students living 50 miles or more from the Indio campus can complete most of their studies from home and still earn the Juris Doctor.
Who the option is for
CDTA’s Distance Learning Option exists for one reason: geography should not be the thing that stops a capable person from becoming a lawyer. The Coachella Valley is large, and Southern California around it is larger. The school accepts applications from Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
If you live 50 miles or more from the Indio campus, you may obtain your J.D. while completing most of your studies from the convenience of home.
How it works
The distance learning platform is available around the clock, seven days a week, so coursework fits around a shift pattern, a caseload, or a family rather than the other way round.
The curriculum is the same curriculum. The subjects are the same California bar-tested subjects, taught by the same faculty, and the same First-Year Law Students’ Examination requirement applies to distance students exactly as it applies to students on campus.
What the State Bar disclosure says about method of instruction
The State Bar of California requires this school to disclose its method of instruction, and the disclosure reads: the method of instruction at this law school for the Juris Doctor degree program is principally in physical classroom facilities.
Read that plainly. The J.D. program is principally a classroom program, and the Distance Learning Option is an accommodation within it for students who qualify by distance. Ask the Admissions Office exactly which components you would be required to attend in person before you plan around it.
Study at, or graduation from, this law school may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to practice in jurisdictions other than California.
CDTA College of Law is a law school registered with the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. It is not accredited by the American Bar Association or by the Committee of Bar Examiners. Read the full required disclosure before you apply.
