Program 03

Bar Preparation

Preparation for the First-Year Law Students’ Examination and the California Bar Examination is built into tuition, not sold back to you afterwards.

Preparation is part of the program

At most law schools, bar preparation is a commercial course you buy after graduation, at a price nobody warned you about in the first year. At CDTA it is included.

Internal course reviews for the First-Year Law Students’ Examination are part of tuition, as substantive video reviews you can work through more than once. AdaptiBar, which gives access to thousands of real bar examination questions, is included with first-year tuition.

Examination conditions from the beginning

ExamSoft is the software used in both the First-Year Law Students’ Examination and the General Bar Examination. Every practice, midterm and final examination at CDTA is taken on it.

The effect is small and it matters: on the day of the examination, the software, the interface and the pressure of a timed closed session are all familiar. The only new thing in the room is the questions.

What the school publishes about outcomes

CDTA publishes one outcome figure: over 60 percent of its students passed the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, a rate the school states is above the overall average for all registered, unaccredited fixed-facility law schools in California.

That figure concerns the First-Year Law Students’ Examination. It is not a California Bar Examination passage rate, and the school does not publish one. No law school can promise you an examination result, and you should be wary of any that implies it can.

California State Bar Required Disclosure

Study at, or graduation from, this law school may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to practice in jurisdictions other than California.

CDTA College of Law is a law school registered with the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. It is not accredited by the American Bar Association or by the Committee of Bar Examiners. Read the full required disclosure before you apply.

Common questions

A California examination, required by Business and Professions Code section 6060(h), that students at registered unaccredited law schools must pass after their first year in order to keep credit for their law study and qualify for the California Bar Examination. It is commonly called the Baby Bar.

A student who passes within three administrations after first becoming eligible receives credit for all law study completed to that point. A student who does not pass within three administrations must be promptly disqualified from the program. A disqualified student who later passes may re-enroll but receives credit for only one year of legal study.

The school publishes a First-Year Law Students’ Examination pass rate of over 60 percent. It does not publish a General Bar Examination passage rate, and this site does not imply one.
